Brief Description
This project was developed by Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island, Incorporated. It was funded through the 2008 Campaign for Mental Health Recovery state implementation awards.
Results
This organization recruited young adults to make a documentary depicting journeys of mental health recovery. The project trained 8 individuals in the process of making a documentary film. Consumers were deeply involved in all aspects of the project, from development of the concept to editing the final documentary. Though more interviews were filmed, they chose the three most compelling stories for the final version. Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island is working with community television to air the film. They will also use the film with local community agencies and in their effort to form a statewide consumer network.
