Brief Description
This project was developed by United Self-Help through funding by the 2007 Campaign for Mental Health Recovery state implementation awards and completed in December 2008.
Results
The goals of this project were to incorporate the Campaign for Mental Health Recovery into their already developed and active social exclusion reduction efforts in their state. The Campaign was incorporated into the following activities/events; Evidenced-Based Practices Conference, depression screening events, and panel presentations and discussions.
The project was very succesful in educating the public in Hawaii. Project director, Bud Bowles and other trained mental health consumers presented 52 speeches to an array of audiences. The presentations included information on the importance of mental health, how to reduce social exclusion, CMHR related information, and how to locate and obtain services in the community. Additionally, four consumer-directed presentations and discussions were filmed for the local TV access channels which continue to air.
